It has been an amazing week from a pro-wrestling fan’s perspective! We just witnessed one of the most anticipated PLEs of the year and officially kicked off WrestleMania season. Royal Rumble 2025 was nothing short of spectacular, delivering twists and turns that kept us on the edge of our seats.
For the first time in over a decade, nobody could predict the winner of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. That level of unpredictability is rare these days, making this event even more special. Now, with two winners crowned after an intense battle featuring 60 superstars across both Rumble matches, we're on the road to WrestleMania 41!
With that being said, here’s my honest review of the things I loved and the things I hated about this year’s Royal Rumble.
1. Women’s Royal Rumble Match
The Good:
From an in-ring perspective, the women’s division delivered one of their best Rumble matches to date. The chemistry between competitors was flawless, and while there were a few minor botches, they were easily forgivable.
We got some exciting returns, including Alexa Bliss and Nikki Bella. While Nikki’s return felt unnecessary and somewhat forced, Alexa received one of the biggest pops of the night, and rightfully so. Trish Stratus also made an appearance, delivering a short but sweet highlight reel moment.
One wrestler who truly impressed me was Nia Jax. Say what you will about her, but she was an absolute powerhouse in this match. I might be off with the numbers, but I believe she eliminated six people in a row at one point.
Charlotte Flair dominated as expected, reminding everyone why she is still the self-proclaimed Queen of the women’s division. However, the biggest surprise of the night for me was Jordynne Grace. Seeing her effortlessly lift Piper Niven was insane! She wrestled flawlessly throughout the match.
That being said, my personal MVP of this match was Chelsea Green. She absolutely stole the show! Her presence, in-ring performance, and overall entertainment factor make her a prime candidate for a championship run. I hope WWE puts the gold on her soon.
The Bad:
One thing that bothers me every year is that many wrestlers take too long with their entrances. This is the Royal Rumble, not a regular match—your goal should be to get to the ring as quickly as possible, not pose on the ramp forever. That sense of urgency was missing from several entrants.
The biggest disappointment for me, however, was the winner. I would have loved to see Liv Morgan, IYO SKY, or even Nia Jax take the victory, but instead, we got yet another Charlotte Flair win. At this point, Charlotte is overpushed and repetitive. Now, the question is: which champion will she squash at WrestleMania?
2. Tag Team Match – DIY vs. MCMG
The Good:
The match itself was solid, with minimal botches, which is always a plus. The stipulation added an extra layer of excitement, and the in-ring chemistry between these four competitors made it enjoyable.
The finish was unexpected but well executed. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins interfered, costing the challengers the match. This extended their feud while also allowing them to attack the champions post-match. Definitely a shocking moment, and I’m curious to see where it leads.
The Bad:
While the match had good spots, it felt somewhat underwhelming. Even with a stipulation, it never reached the next level of excitement that it could have. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either—just mid.
3. WWE Championship Ladder Match – Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens
The Good:
This match was brutal in the best way possible. Every spot felt intense, and it truly felt like a war.
Kevin Owens is clearly trying to bring out Cody’s darker side, and I think he succeeded. The final spot where Cody slammed Kevin onto a ladder was absolutely vicious, leaving Owens a bloody mess while Cody retained his title. Given that WWE is clearly building Cody up for WrestleMania, this outcome was expected but still satisfying.
The Bad:
Sami Zayn made an appearance during the match but didn’t take a side. I was hoping he would get more involved.
Also, I (and many fans) wanted Kevin Owens to win. We all know WWE is teasing a more unhinged Cody Rhodes, but I feel like they could’ve accelerated that storyline here. Still, we’re heading in that direction, so I’ll stay patient.
4. Men’s Royal Rumble Match
The Bad:
A few notable names were missing from the Rumble, such as Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Solo Sikoa, and Tama Tonga.
Also, Jacob Fatu deserved better. He should have had a dominant showing, but instead, he got eliminated way too quickly. His elimination by Braun felt rushed and disappointing. He had so much momentum, and WWE should have let him eliminate more people.
Lastly, while I’m happy for Jey Uso, I can’t help but feel a little sad that CM Punk didn’t win. He deserves a WrestleMania main event before he hangs up his boots for good.
The Good:
I believe in Joe Hendry and Jey Uso. Yeet!
Seeing Joe Hendry in WWE was amazing, and I hope he sticks around. Penta also made an impact in his debut Rumble, even though his elimination was super quick.
One moment that really caught my eye was DMC’s elimination. I didn’t think I’d want to see Damian Priest vs. DMC, but now I do! I hope WWE books this match at WrestleMania.
LA Knight continues to prove why he’s a fan favorite—his presence alone makes everything more entertaining. Also, I heard a rumor that DMC stormed out after his elimination, shouting obscenities. Something is definitely brewing there.
And finally, Jey Uso’s victory felt personal. I wanted him to win something big, and this was his moment. Towards the end, I thought he was about to get Ambrose’d, but thankfully, he pulled through and won!
WrestleMania 41 Match Predictions
Highly likely:
- CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes – Punk wins Elimination Chamber and gets his dream WrestleMania main event.
- Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns – After those back-to-back Curb Stomps, this match is happening.
- Jey Uso vs. Gunther – Jey called him out at the press conference, so this is practically confirmed.
Potential Matches:
- AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul
- LA Knight vs. DMC
- Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu
- Jimmy Uso vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
- Chralotte Vs Tiffany
Final Thoughts
Overall, Royal Rumble 2025 delivered. It had its flaws, but the unpredictability, shocking moments, and storytelling made it a great event. Now, the road to WrestleMania 41 is officially underway!
