Tekken: Bloodline Anime Review// Good or Bad?

"What is it that haunts you?"

When Netflix announced that they'll be releasing an anime version for Tekken, I was taken away. I started pinging any friend and every friend, I could find on my list to let them know that our childhood's greatest game is coming to life. I was so much more than just hyped for this as not just Jin Kazama was coming to life but Heihachi, King, Paul, Xiaoyu, Nina, and Ogre too. All of these characters are everyone's childhood favorites and that got me thrilled. Now on today's blog, I'll be reviewing the series that came out on Netflix this week. Before I review I would like you all to know that this review is going to be from a fan's perspective cause come on critiques suck!!!

Story:

It starts with Jin Kazama. He was running away from some bullies until they trampled him. Then bullies rough him up a bit until Jin shows his skills and severely injures the bullies. Then we see her mom arrive at the place and stops Jin and lectures him on his actions. She taught him how to fight for the right and not to beat up innocents out of rage. Then we see a little bonding between Jin and his mother, and on the same night, they get attacked by an Ogre.

They refer to him as a demon who feeds on souls, and he comes and kills Jun Kazama, mother of Jin Kazama. She, before sacrifcing herself, guides Jin Kazama towards his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima. Heihachi Mishima is a living legend and has a big personality in the show. who then takes Jin under his wing and trains him to beat the Ogre.

Animation:

From the very beginning, I was taken away by the animation. It resembles the games so much that it's almost hard to differentiate.Which is a disadvantage because the creators made it look so much like the game that it loses the core crispness of anime. Although I liked the animation too, I was hoping for more of a Baki or Kengan ashura kind and, from that perspective, I was kind of disappointed.

Characterisation and body structure of every character was neetly done. Fighting sequences were great and nicely pictured. Only fault was that after a while during a fight you start to see red spot on whole body instead of an actual injury. Let's not get picky about it and just enjoy the treat of visual effects we got from the makers. All and all the animation worked for me and I would rate it 8/10 on a scale..

Personal Review:

Now this is the part where I will write about the narration of the story and everything about it. I don't mean to disrespect the creators, but the story seemed a little too fast-paced. In terms of anime, the stories are always a little slow to start as everything needs time to develop. We, as anime fans, completely understand the pace of the story and agree with it too. That's why we love and adore long-term format series, as we know the complexity of a character and the importance of its development. That's why I didn't like the story for the most part. As they first concluded the whole series in 6 episodes. Secondly, they didn't give much time to the characters for their development.

The backstories of every character lacked depth. The makers failed to explain the villain's origin in the first season. I am not sure whether or not there's going to be a second season, but I felt that there needed to be way more explaining to do. Still, they chose to end it, which left everything tangled and complicated. The first thing that comes to mind after hearing about Tekken is action, and lots and lots of it. Well, in terms of results, we get fights that are poorly choreographed and are short too. Although the visuals were excellent and brought back many memories, the story and character development fell a little short. Overall, it's a decent one-time watch anime.
