Let's talk about some of the most memorable moments in UFC
history when fighters failed to follow through on their promises, as we just
witnessed a lot of incredible and jaw-dropping events at UFC 275. Of course,
the promos are an important element of every fight's build-up. Of course, this
does not apply to each and every one of them, but it does apply to the most
amusing. Before a huge fight, fighters frequently get a chance to get inside
their opponents' heads, and they try everything they can to get into their
opponents' heads and affect the outcome. We all know that a match begins with
getting inside your opponent's head, and once inside it, you win half the
match, but sometimes this trash goes wrong as it falls into deaf ears or
ineffective ears, and in reverse, they expose themselves to the play and get
themselves played.
1. Conor Mcgregor (Against Khabib) –
If there was ever the best trash talk in the history of the UFC, it was shown in this battle. As Khabib and Conor collided in the most anticipated match of their careers, the trash talking began and quickly became personal as Conor started thrashing Khabib from every angle possible, and it became so personal that a brawl broke out between Khabib's and Conor's squads even before the match in the parking lot, and after the match was a hell of a mess as well. So much so that Dana refused to put a belt on Khabib even after winning. It's just the top of the iceberg I'm talking about, because it wasn't just money and a title they were battling for that night; it was a legacy they were chasing, and in the end, Conor, the hottest asset at the time, lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in a total beatdown match via submission.
2. Chael Sonnen (Against Anderson Silva) –
This has to be the most emotionally draining match of all time. Imagine you're a fighter who has been dominating every round until you make a single mistake with 50 seconds left in the last round and are strangled out. You not only lose the title, but you also lose your calm after being vanquished in a bout when you were invincible due to one wrong move. This happened with Chael Sonnen against Silva, and the worst part of this fight is that Chael was not only a good fighter but the best trash talker in the UFC in his time too. He absolutely crushed Silva on the mic but came just a bit short during the fight.
3. Jorge Masvidal (Against Colby) -
The guys whose names include the fastest TKO and the guy with a huge mouth. Normally, this list would be devoted to those who promised to do this or that but never followed through, but Colby did precisely what he said he would. In a three-round bout, he harassed Jorge and was dominating in each round. They used to be best friends, but they've become bitter enemies after Colby allegedly went too far with his promos, and they can't seem to agree on anything. A lot of things happened within that octagon, but one thing we were informed of didn't happen. We were promised a knockout by Jorge but sadly he couldn't deliver.
4. Jose Aldo (Against Mcgregor) -
Jose Aldo, the guy who was literally on the seventh cloud because of his decade-long streak, When names like Mcgregor were mentioned to him, he simply dismissed them as "all talk" and "not on his level," but little did he know that he would be the one to bring an end to his UFC career and streak. It was announced in the fall of 2015 that Aldo would face McGregor in the UFC's December PPV, and the announcement immediately garnered worldwide attention as the underdog was given a chance for the title, which was to be held in Aldo's hometown, and then began jibber-jabber and mind games. Mcgregor is a trash talker and he bad-mouthed here too, but Jose Alfa was no less because he was having his streak, so he was pretty confident that he would come out victorious, but little did he know that this was going to be the start of his career’s end. The 13-second knockout will haunt Jose forever. That’s why you should never judge a book by its cover.
5. Luke Rockhold (Against Michael Bisping) –
In the UFC, Luke and Bisping have an odd 1-1 record. When they first met, Luke came out on top, knocking Bisping out in round 2, and when part 2 was revealed, Luke was a lot more confident, especially since Bisping only had 18 days to prepare. The fight was tough, and there was much of trash language, but Bisping came out on top, even in the first round. Since then, Luke's career has taken a detour as well, as he went from having only two losses to having five losses and 16 wins in the UFC.
6. Amanda Nunes (Against Juliana Pena) –
This match was one of the best to come from the women’s division. The Lioness against the Vixen. This match was long overdue as per Pena. Amanda promised her match after beating Tate, but she never did and this led up to animosity between these two. The championship was on the line and Amanda was going into the fight with a lot of confidence as she was coming in with a 12-fight win streak, and on the other hand, Vixen had only won a match before she got chosen for the championship. So basically, the odds were not great for Pena, but as they say, "The greater they are, the harder they fall". This happened to be the fight where Nunes fell, in just the second round via submission.
7. Anderson Silva (Chris Weidman) -
Anderson Silva, aka The Dancing Spider, is easily one of the best fighters in the UFC, if not the best. He’s got many things under his name: MMA fighter, judo specialist, and boxer as of now as he’s moving for his next fight inside the four-squared circle. When the fight was arranged against Weidman, Silva was already going strong as he had a 17-fight winning streak under his belt. He was more than just confident when he was heading towards the Weidman for the first time. He wasn’t lacking per se, but he was just ignorant towards the possibility of him losing in a fight against someone with the likes of Weidman. But destiny had other plans for him, as he was knocked out by Weidman during round 2 while showboating. He was taunting Weidman to hit him hard on the face, which he did, and as a result he was knocked out cold for a split second. was holding the referee’s feet as he was ringing the bell on him as he was conscious still and the referee made a wrong call during the fight and due to that he lost..
8. Tony ferguson (Against Michael Chandler) -
Tony Ferguson, aka UFC's El Cucui, is one of the most entertaining and dangerous competitors in recent memory. who has graced the octagon and continues to entertain us all. His resume is littered with memorable clashes and struggles worthy of songwriting. He is a modern-day fighter who has never failed to deliver until the very last fight. He had been on a losing skid recently, and this year was meant to be his comeback into the octagon, with Iron Michael Chandler as his opponent. Despite the fact that both fighters are humble, Tony said a lot during the press conference because he's nearing the conclusion of his UFCS contract. He had plenty of things to say “I don’t think it’s very funny. Everybody is looking at it, they’re smiling and laughing at it, but nobody’s saying s***. “I’m the one up here with Dana Brown privilege or whatever the f*ck you want to call it. I don’t think it’s very funny anymore. I don’t think you should think that’s very funny. So, I am talking this weekend very f*king seriously. I’ll kick this Dana white boy’s ass. Nothing personal against chandler”. He not only ignored Chandler, but he also insulted Dana, and you'd think that someone like that would prove his word by fighting, but he fell face flat onto the mat and lost just seconds into the second round against Chandler. He was determined to play in other sports before the match, but his prospects now appear bleak.
9. Ronda Rousey (Against Holly homes) –
She's perhaps one of the most well-known figures in the UFC's women's division. Ronda Rousey, the Baddest Woman on the Planet, was the buzz of the town. She had it all: charisma, charm, and the ability to back it up with talents. Throughout her remarkable career, she has put on many memorable and entertaining battles. "The one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail," as the great green goblin famously stated. Rousey and her streak were adored by all, but as much as we wanted to see her wrestle, we also wanted to see her loose. Because she had been at the top of the mountain for so long, and by the time her 11th birthday rolled around, she was exhausted. "If she has to fight five rounds against Holly, her career span will be reduced," Ronda remarked during the press conference, "but if she comes out unscathed, it may increase." Ronda has been known for her trash talk in the past, but she was modest in this fight. The reason this fight is on the list is that Dana was not feeding Rousey the top contenders because he wanted her to stay on top for a while longer, and Holly's knockout not only put a stop to Rousey's career but also impressed Dana.
10. George St. Pierre Against Matt Serra -
GSP and Jon Jones are regarded as two of the best, if not the best, athletes of all time. When I say he's one of the best, I'm referring to his brutality and caution in the ring, someone who would never lose to someone who'd never beaten a large man. Even GSP admitted in recent podcasts that "I didn't feel like I made the same sacrifice that I generally did in my past fights." I didn't feel terrified enough, because I usually practice under the fear that my opponent is training harder than me, and I put in a lot of mental effort to overcome that fear and difficulty. " When I met Matt Serra, I didn't feel like I had gone through it. His self-assurance had gotten the best of him. "Nature is certain, everything is unpredictable," as they say, and the uncertainty has knocked GSP down.
Alright guys this is it, do give these matches a
go and you’ll find out why they are actually on the list.
